Héctor Quintanar Prieto, composer and orchestra director and heir to the composition cathedra of Carlos Chávez at the Conservatorio Nacional, was born in Mexico City on April 15, 1935 and died October 24, 2013. As a professor in various institutions he was an authentic pillar of music education in Mexico, honored for his investigations related to musical analysis and harmonic theory.
